5. Sampling:
5 % or minimum one container shall be randomly selected for sampling.
250 gm shall be drawn from each selected container and shall be mixed homogenously, called as primary sample.
250 gm shall be drawn from primary sample called as Laboratory sample.
6. Definitions:
Extraneous matter includes dust, dirt, stones, and lumps of earth, also vegetative part of cloves plant, other than cloves, such as tendrils, peduncles, cloves stems, mother cloves etc.
Headless Cloves: A Clove consisting of only the receptacle and sepals and which has lost the domed shaped head.
Khoker Cloves: A Clove which has undergone fermentation as a result of incomplete drying as evidenced by its pale brown.
Insect damages cloves means the cloves that the partially or wholly bored by the insects.
